Camp - An update

Well its been a wonderful month here at camp.  So wonderful in fact that I have decided to stay yet another month.  I wish the campground was open year round.  I'd be here all the time.  I really love being able to have a campfire at night.  Its so much fun to watch the flames.  DD loves adding a rainbow packet to the campfire and watching all the pretty colors emerge.  The other night we were sitting out front with our fire and I happened to have my camera with me.  Here is a pic of the fire pit with some really cool colors. 

                            

I love the greens and blues and purples and pinks in this picture.  These colors lasted all night.  A $1.49 for a whole nights entertainment.  I think it was a good deal!

Altered Vase

This vase I created won Altered Item of the Day on Tuesday over at Scrapbook Supplies Forum.  I actually had a clean sweep that day, also taking Layout of the Day (Birthday Girl LO posted 8/28) and Card of the Day (Thinking of you Card posted 8/29) awards.

I created this using some scrap (as usual) rub ons that I had left over from a kit I got from an SEI  workshop at CKC in May.  I had no idea why I was hanging onto these rub ons for so long.  But I wanted to use them because they were so "happy" looking.  Work was getting rid of a bunch of vases, so I grabbed one on my way out the door and headed home to create.  One thing I figured out very quickly was to use some mini glue dots to hold the rub on in place on the glass.  Did you know glass is slippery?  LOL  At first I couldn't figure out why the rub ons were moving all over the place.  Jeesh!  Duh.  Well I had  had a long day! (That's my story and I'm stickin to it).

Thinking of You Card

Here is a card I made this past weekend while my BFF's were here at camp scrappin and stampin with me.  I think I have seen a card like this somewhere before but can't remember where since I am a member of so many online communities.  So my apologies.  I think you could do this with patterned paper or ribbons as well as cardstock.  Either way its a great use of scraps!  This is a CTMH Stamp.

Birthday Girl

So its really old news by now at how far behind I am with scrapping my pics, but I am starting to catch up a little at a time.  This layout is from DD's birthday last year.  Her BFF couldn't make it to her regular party so they had a party of their own complete with pizza and the cutest cakes I ever saw.  The were individual cakes with dolls.  The cake was the bottom of the ball gown.  I really think this layout came out better than I expected.  The smaller pics have an eyelet thru the top and then I laced a ribbon thru the eyelets to "hang" the pictures.

What's Cookin'?

Ever have one of those days where all you want to do is come home from work and have dinner ready and waiting, but as you are driving home you dread the fact that you are going to have to cook dinner?  One day this past July was just like that for me.  I was dreading going home to a hungry DD because I was exhausted from work.  Well much to my surprise, when I got home DD had cooked dinner all by herself.  She decided to make ribs.  Funny thing is I think she knew I would want to scrap it because she took my camera (which she isn't supposed to do LOL) and took a few pics of herself cooking.  I'm glad that she disobeyed the rules this one time!  I finally got around to scrapping the pics. 

Recipe:  Hot Fudge Kit from TLC called "What's Cooking?", striped paper is from SEI, and the ribbon is SU River Rock. I used my Cricut to create the circle and my threading water punch to create the border.  The Journaling Stamp is from Stampology.

New Layout - Monograms - Sedona Arizona

I did this layout for Storytellers weekly challenge contest.  This week it was to create a layout using a monogram.  I am finally starting to catch up on my layouts.  Now I am only 2 years behind.  This layout is from when DD and I headed to Sedona Arizona on our way to the Grand Canyon.  We had so much fun.  The journaling is hidden behind a photo, which is great when you are running out of space on a page and still want to include some journaling.  To hide your journaling behind a photo only adhere three sides of your photo to the page, cut your journaling card 1" smaller than your photo so that it can fit easily behind your photo.  Add a pull tab to the top of the journaling card and voila.  Space saving journaling.  LOL

                                 

Pen Pal Notecards

Last week DD went up to the pool here at camp and met a very nice little girl.  They decided to become old fashioned pen pals using paper, pens and snail mail.  I thought it was great.  Then I saw the first letter DD was sending on plain notebook paper and the card maker in me had a hard time with it.  So we sent out the first letter, and this weekend while my BFF's Carole and Steph came to camp to stamp and scrap, I got down to making a set of notecards for DD to send to her pen pal.

For the set I used the Martha Stewart Monogram stamps.  I love these stamps because they come complete with notches so that you can line up the monograms perfectly.

                               

My favorite is the middle one.  For this notecard I used my CM Circle Cutter.  I used the largest one and cut the bottom half of the cardfront.  Then I cut a piece of blue cardstock to 4.25 x 5.25" and adhered it to the back of the cardfront.  For the monogram I used a 1 3/8" and a 1 1/2" circle punches.

                                  

I hope you enjoy the notecards and please encourage your children to write to their family and friends the old fashioned way.  They may lift someone's spirits and bring a smile to their face.  Even in this day and age of technology there is nothing like going to the mailbox and finding a piece of real mail.

Another - On the diagonals

I'm on a roll with diagonals I guess.  Here is another card that I made with the scraps of yesterday's card.  I have a wonderful friend that is going thru a rough time and has decided to take a new path in life.  I used a mosaic type technique in doing the diagonals, and yet left myself enough room to stamp my sentiment between the patterned papers.

Diagonals

I had diagonals on the brain tonight so it inspired me to create a card.  This card was simple and fun.  Once again I dug into my box of scraps.  The sentiment and patterned paper is from a paper pack that I bought a couple of years ago.  I believe it was Urban Chic.  I took some basic white cardstock and used my treading water punch to create a decorative element.  I also used SU Dimensionals to pop up the sentiment and Soft Sky cardstock.

                                

I hope you enjoy this card until my Mojo comes back full strength.  Sorry but the blues over my birthday the other day has just zapped me.
