Scraps and Leftovers

Well I had a wonderful weekend at Camp Spofford in New Hampshire.  The accomodations were great, lighting was the best I have ever had at a crop, and we had a ton of space and weren't crowded at all.  The weekend included all your food and I figured it would be ok.  I was completely blown away when I tasted the chef's food for the first time.  This guy should really be cooking at a four star restaurant.  I had the most amazing pork loin I have ever had.  It was so tender that we were able to cut it with a butter knife.  And the deserts were yummy too.  On Saturday night it was so good I actually had two pieces!  Shhhhhh don't tell my weight loss counselor.  LOL.  And the best part is that the whole weekend only cost $90.  Three days scrapping, room and food.

As I was driving up on Friday I gave myself the challenge of  using all                                                       the Scraps and Leftovers from one of SU's Simply Scrapping Kits.  I was  actually amazed at how many cards I was able to make.  I also had a few leftover Prima's from another project so I threw that into the mix as well.  Any little bitsand pieces that were left over from other projects were thrown on the table.  In the end I only gave away two pieces of patterned paper because I was sick to death at looking at it.

The card on the right is done with the SAB Merci Set.  I stamped the image in Stazon Black and then traced over it with SU markers.  The photo corners are a scrap and I used pop dots to lift them from the page and create a frame effect.  If ou click on the photo a new window with an enlarged version should appear.

Since my camera is on the fritz tonight I had to take the pics with my older camera.  Sorry about the poor image quality this time.  Hopefully it will be fixed by tomorrow.

This card was done with SU's Angler set and colored with prisma color pencils.  I stamped the background with a stamp I got at a yard sale at the crop for $1.  Its a SU stamp from 1996.  It looks like a rope net. I wish I hadn't used such a strong red for the bobbins.  The brass plate says the great outdoors.  This is a great Father's Day card for my dad.

These cards I made with the die cut sticker flowers and ribbon that were in the Simply Scrapping Kit.  I added some pop dots for a three dimentional effect.  The Yellow card was cut 1/2 inch shorter on the front with a wave rotary cutter blade.  I then inked in Cameo Coral to match the flowers.

Taking a few days to get my brain back

The last 24 hours have been heck on wheels.  Yesterday I got a call from the Dean of Students at my 12yo DD's school. She had been sexually harassed via a note.  Long story short, the little 12yo punk wrote a letter to my DD that made ME blush.  And I have been around the block a few times already.  I was even a bouncer for a while at a seedy bar  LOL  so I have seen alot in my day.  Well needless to say I was just a little upset (ok I was far far from little).  So I had to get out of the seminar I was taking and hop up to the school to pick her up.  This morning I had a meeting with the school, a meeting with the local PD, a meeting with the superintendent of schools and a call to an attorney.  Know what?  There is pretty much nothing I can do to protect my daughter from this pervert until he physically touches her.  Yep thats right.  First they wouldn't give me the kids name so that I could report it, (I did some investigating on my own and came up with all the information) then they can't move him for lunch so that he doesn't have access to my daughter because HIS civil rights would be violated.  The system is set up to protect him and not DD.  Even the police officer we spoke with said that its a shame that the criminals are protected more than the victims.   Oh and I can't get a restraining order because he is not related and DD has not had a romantic relationship with him (well duh!!! she's only 12!)  Well at least the LPD is going to be paying the punk and his parents a visit and letting them know that even the hint of another incident and the kid will be charged with criminal harassment. The police did say that I could request that the charges be brought up but at most it would be a continuance without a finding.  Still deciding on that one. 

I will be away for the weekend.  Hopefully throwing all my frustrations into my cards and coming up with some good stuff!  I hope you all have a great weekend.

Patchwork Card

Ok so I finally broke thru and a card that I have been thinking about for a week now came to me tonight.  When I started this card I didn't know if it was going to work, but I'm happy to say it did.  I started out by taking 4 coordinating 6x6 papers and trimming each of them to 4.25 x 5.5.  Then I made similar cuts on all papers.  Once everything was cut I adhered them down in a pattern to make a patchwork quilt.  Then I took my CTMH Simple Stitches set and with Versamark Watermark ink, used a stitch stamp where I wanted my "stitching" to go.  I then used opaque black embossing powder and set the stitches.  The saying is from SU's Polka Dots and Paisley set.  IRL the stitches do look and feel real. 

This card was a quick and easy card and because I had identical pieces from all four patterened papers, I was able to make four cards out of it all.  I hope you enjoy the card!

                                       

It was just a horrible night

Ok sorry guys.  I know I promised you something new for today, but last night was just a horrible night.  No matter what I put together, it was just awful.  Ever had one of those nights?  I tried four different times to create something that looked great in my head, but just couldnt get it to work once I got it out on paper.  I'm going to try again tonight.  Maybe a different kind of project tonight will help me along with this horrible case of card makers block.

Congratulations to Michelle O and Karen, they were the winners of my blog candy.  And thank you to all for the one month birthday wishes.  It was a crazy weekend here in my house.  My daughter had a Rainbow Girls craft fair, so we were there all day Saturday.  And by Sunday we were both so wiped that we slept most of the day.  Tonight I will be back to creating.  I have several ideas I am playing with in my head right now.  Have a great day!

One Month Old

As of today we are one month old!  Wow, time has sure flown!  Now that I am in my remodeled studio for a couple of weeks now I am finding I need more room LOL  No really its been working out great.  Well to celebrate our one month anniversary and getting 1000 hits...Oh yea we just hit 1000 hits as well!...I decided it was time to add a little yumminess to all of you who have been stopping by to say hi and comment on my cards.  So here it is, post a comment and don't forget to leave your email or SCS name between now and Sunday, April 13 and on Sunday evening I will randomly draw two names out of the hat for a 6" accordian album kit.  These are the kits everyone was crazy over last year at CKC.  Thank you so much for your encouraging comments!

Happy Birthday Card

In honor of this blogs one month birthday tomorrow, I decided that tonight I should make a set of Birthday cards.  This card was made completly of scraps  I just love getting rid of scraps!  Since DD was down here tonight "helping" me, I actually have no idea of what set the Happy Birthday sentiment came from.  Sorry.  But I am sure you crafty people out there will be able to duplicate it.

                                          

Just Had to Share this Site!

Well I just got home from doing a Wildtree Tasting Party and popped into SCS for a brief moment and another poster shared a site that she used to come up with color combos.  I went to the site and what a cool little tool they have.  You can put in the colors you want to use and hit search and it finds all the color combinations that will go good with those colors.  I put in Groovy Guava and Soft Sky as those are the colors I am currently working with for the cards I am making for my best friend.  The computer program came up with 900+ combinations.  So by now you must be asking what is this site.  I know I can get long winded! Sheet Load Inspired

I have a whole stash of large brads and am always looking for a way to use them.  April's Sheet Load recipe inspired me to use them.  This card was super easy to make.  It took me about 10 minutes excluding tying the bow since I'm not the best bow maker.  The bow probably took longer to make than the card did!

Shout out to Sheet Load!
