Thanksgiving Card

I thought I would make my mom a Thanksgiving card this year.  Since I finally learned how to use my nestabilities (thank goodness my neighbor is never home!) after almost a year of playing with them and cursing at them, I decided to use them for this card.  I decided I didn't want to emboss but just cut with the nesties, so I was back to the drawing board.  Two hours later I had my black and white cardstock cut.  LOL  Sometimes it just takes me longer.  Especially when the technology is more human than electronic.

For this card, I used Baha Breeze cardstock, and stock white and black cardstock.  the patterened paper is from My Mind's Eye and the ribbon is a black velvet from my friend Jess' flower shop Dodo's Phlowers in Leominster.  The wheat stamp is from CTMH's November Word Puzzle and the Happy Thanksgiving stamp is from Mike's.

Love this layout.  I got the kit at Scrapbook Nook in Bellowes Falls, VT.  I used a pic from 2001 when my DD was just a little girl.  It was taken at her daycare and I have always loved this pic so much that I am glad I finally get to use it in a layout.

Crop Layout Part 6 - Final Layout in this Series

So here is the last layout that I did at the crop up in Brattleboro, VT.  This layout definately needs some beautiful pictures of my little family put on it, because our nest is really blessed lately.

I love the paper piecing and font that they used for this layout.  The "T" in nest is split between the two pages.  You can get this layout kit at CKC.

I love this layout.  I really do wish I could remember where I got the kit.  I think it might have been Embellish It!  It's perfect for pictures of my little family because my DD and my dog are my everything.

Cricut Door Hanger

Let me begin by saying I have a 13 year old, and like most 13 year olds, she has a difficult time knowing when to clean her room.  Some days I feel like a broken record.  So after thinking about it I came up with this solution; a door hanger that will tell her when her room is clean and when it needs to be looked after.

For this project I used three cricut cartridges:  Tag, Bags Boxes and More and A Walk in My Garden, and Street Sign font cartridge.

For the CLEAN side:

For the door hanger I set my cricut to 10 1/2 inches and cut a basic door hanger from TBBM cartridge.  The hanger has both a circle for the door knob to go thru as well as a slit in it (don't know what the slit is for but I covered it anyway so it doesn't matter).  If you don't want the slit in it, cut the door hanger in blackout and then use the centerpointe function to cut a 2 34 inch hole at the top.  But I think its easier to just cover the slit.

Then I took out the WIMG cartridge and cut flowers of varying sizes and shapes.  I used cornflower, daisy and the pansy.  For the pansy I punched out the center and then offset it over a one size larger center (shift key) using a pop dot.  My daughter likes bright colors and prints so I mixed and matched papers and patterns.  She really liked that I added a little bling to the flowers with some glitter paper.

For the lettering I used 1 1/2" letters in Street Sign Font.

For the DIRTY side:

I strictly used the Street Sign cartridge for this side.

For the lettering I used 2" letters (yes I know its bigger...easier to see it with my dear...hehehe)

Then I cut a blackout 3" railroad sign (a circle) and I cut out a colon and a parenthasis at the 2" setting for the eyes and the mouth.

This project took all of about a half an hour once as I had already figured out what sizes to use prior to my starting.  It was quick and easy and I am hoping it saves me from going stark raving mad and ending up in a rubber room (although if it was a room filled with rubba...ie stamps...it might not be so bad)

Layout from a crop Part 2

Here is another layout I did this past weekend at the Heartfelt Memories crop in Brattleboro, VT.  If you ever get a chance to go to one of their crops, I highly recommend it.  Lots of room and great gals.

This Sweet and Sassy Layout is going to be perfect for my DD cause she is sooo sweet and sassy!

Cricut Heart Box Wedding Favor

I had alot of fun making this Cricut Heart Box. 

This is a great little box for putting wedding favors in.

Be forewarned that there are lots of pictures to this post and the directions are long, but it really is a very simple project perfect for a beginner.

For this project I used the Tags, Bags, Boxes and More cartridge.  I began this project by cutting a heart box from TBBM by using my 12x12 mat and using the fit to size feature.  Once it was cut I scored where appropriate using my Scorepal.  Before putting it together I folded where appropriate and made hard creases.  Doing this ahead of time makes putting the box together much easier.  Once you have everything scored and folded use a heavy duty adhesive to put the sides of the box together.  I used my ATG tape.

Next I made the covering for the heart at the top of the box.  To do this I scored and folded a piece of patterned paper right side in (side you want to see goes on the inside of the fold) and then I traced one of the heart pieces – ½ a heart – onto the paper. 

 

 

 

 

              

Then I cut the heart out and cut it in two, followed by adhering the pp pieces to the heart pieces.

 

Next I turned to decorating the sides.  I cut a 2” wide and a 1 ½ “ wide strip of coordinating patterned paper, stacked them and wrapped them around the middle of the box. 

I needed a label but didn’t just want a plain stamped label, I wanted something with dimension.  So I came up with an easy way to frame this label. 

 

First I punched out two labels with my Stampin Up label punch one in white and one in black.  I stamped my white label with PTI’s Boxes Bags and Tags.  Then I took the black label and ran it thru my printer/copier at an enlargement of 120%.

I then cut the label from the copy paper leaving a half inch around all the sides.  I then took some repositionable tape and taped the heck out of the copy and put it down on the back side my patterned paper and cut out the label. (sorry about the horrible pic) 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Once done with the cutting, peel the copy of the label off of the patterned paper.  I stacked the two labels using pop dots.

Layouts from a crop Part 1

This past weekend I had the pleasure of going away to a crop for a day with two friends I hadn't seen in ages.  I didn't have time to pull out pics and get them printed out so I just spent the day putting together layouts that I can slap pics on at a later date. Plus I packed for the entire day in about 5 minutes flat cause I didn't know if I was going or not until the last minute.  I packed a boatload of scrap kits that I bought at CKC Manchester this past May.

So here is the first one I did.  I plan on putting my DD's first day of school pics on it at some point when I get enough time to actually print out the pics. LOL

Unfortunately I have no idea on the paper or chipboard letters.  I think by looking at the paper its probably SEI papers.

 I love having layouts ready and waiting for me.  Makes it much easier to get things actually into my scrapbook.
